#FBF #FlashbackFriday to the 1st time I visited here this summer; 2nd time I still need to edit!!! —- Repost @tracyleephotos ・・・ On Night 7 of #TheGreatMilkyWayChase, we made our way up to The Crystal Mill... it was quite a trip up a narrow 4x4 road and when we arrived a very intoxicated photographer was up there hanging out to shoot the stars as well... I shot some blue hour foregrounds before settling in for a nap... when my alarm went off a little after 10, startled, I stumbled out of the car to check on my comp and get my star shots going and at some point ended up falling so bad that I still have a bump on my arm 3.5 week’s later... —- This shot is 25 images stacked in Starry Landscape Stacker for NR... the lighting is a combination of LumeCube.com/160.html (use code TRACYLEE for free US Shipping) and a Mag light that the drunk guy had to cover the distance across the water... I had shot all kinds of shots to blend foreground and sky, ended up changing my comp, and ended up with this stacked instead... #ThrowbackThursday #TBT — A year ago, give or take a day or two, I met some of the friends who shaped the last year of my life... this was at the Milky Way Chasers meet up at Trona Pinnacles and this photo was from that night! —- Repost @tracyleephotos ・・・ So 2 weekends ago when we did the impromptu @MilkyWayChasers meet up at Trona Pinnacles, I said that I wasn't going to shoot any photos other than the group photo so I could hang out and wander around through all the people shooting... Well as I was wandering to get my group shot com set up, I spotted all these photographers on the ridge shooting and I couldn't help but stop to shoot them!!! This is 15 images stacked in SLS for NR... They didn't stay still for 15 frames obviously and I lucked on with a couple frames them being lit by a passing car so I healed them out of the stacked image, and blended in the one frame of them lit up! --- ISO 6400 F2.8 15 seconds 15 frames stacked in SLS for NR Processed in LR & PS Tokina USA 16-28 @ 18mm Slik USA 634-CF Canon 6dmk1

#TBT #ThrowbackThursday I need to go back soon!! —- Repost @tracyleephotos ・・・ Part of my El Paso trip to meet my family I had never met before, also included a couple side adventures. Including this one to White Sands national Monument. --- My brother, Rick took me and my niece to shoot photos on the dunes in her sweet 16 dress. We were rushed for time, so we got out there late, and we were battling cloudy skies. The park closes at sunset so to be able to stay after you have to get a back country camp spot and backpack in a mile through the dunes to your camp spot. Thanks to @Jaxsonpohlmanphotography for the info on this one!! Your photos there inspired me for sure on this trip. --- I have to admit I'm pretty thrilled about how this photo turned out in spite of all the set backs. In her hand she is holding a lumecube which both lit her and the sands up, as well as gave the entire image a mystical feel. ______ This is 4 images stacked in starry landscape stacker for noise reduction as well as a single image for my niece in the foreground. Sky: ISO1250 F2.8 25 seconds Foreground: ISO2000 F2.8 10 seconds (because I didn't want her holding her arm up forever in the shots) I used the wifi app on the Lume cube to have the cube go off at 1/4 power for 1/4 of a second. @tokinausa 11-20 @canonusa 70d @slikusa 634-cfl _________ #milkyway #milkywaychasers #NatGeospace #nightphotography #night_excl #nightphoto #nightimages #globalcapture #supreme_nightshots #tokinausa #slikusa #ig_shotz #ig_shotz_le #igpodium_night #rsa_night #insta_worldz #long_exposure #waycoolshots #longexpo_addiction #amazing_longexpo #nse_dusk #westcoast_exposures #amazingphotohunter #fs_longexpo #nightscaper #tracyleephotos #lumecube

Glacier National Park has been on my list of places to go for a while... but the trip I planned a couple weeks ago with @whiskeybowen @ryantoswald @missjessbess & @megavai left us lacking for time as well as clear weather.. we were hoping for an amazing sunset, as well as clear skies for the Milky Way, but instead we got these overcast clouds and then a blizzard!! The color on the trees was amazing but I didn’t even get a chance to shoot photos of it.. thank you to Ryan for scouting ahead to help find this location; I was inspired by @perrikschelatphotography’s amazing image from this location and wanted to find it but was so limited in time.. —- This is a focus blend of two shots; one for foreground and one for sky... it’s also a content aware scaled image because I wanted the foreground and sky to fit into this Instagram 4:5 crop and didn’t care so much about the center of the image... yes the rocks are really colorful; perhaps not as vibrant as I made them here but the colors all exist!! —— ISO 100 F8.0 4seconds —— @tokinausa 24-70mm @ 31mm @canonusa 6DMK1 @slikusa 634-CFL —— . . . . . #tracylee #tracyleephotos #tracyleephotography #slikusa #canonusa #tokinausa #canonbringit #teamcanon #teamtokina #teamslik #shootslik #glaciernps #glaciernationalpark #glaciernationalparkmontana #montana #kalispellmontana #kalispell #whitefishmontana #coloredrocks #tokina2470 #perrikschelatphotography #usinterior #nationalpark #nationalparks #goparks #6dmkii #canon6dmarkii

#TBT somewhere in NM or CO.. —- Repost @tracyleephotos ・・・ Night 4 of #TheGreatMilkyWayChase... I’m losing track of days; I just know that we’re on day 7 of this trip... I think we left New Mexico on Monday and as we were driving through we saw this amazing butte so decided that this was our comp for the night.. we pulled off and shot before the moon rose but we wanted to get the moonlight on the butte so we waited.. This was taken after the half moon had risen above the surrounding mountains... can’t believe I got so much detail with the moon so high in the sky.. this is 20 images stacked in Starry Landscape Stacker for NR.. make sure you check the settings below! —— ISO 1600 F1.4 35mm 10 seconds Processed in LR & PS —— @slikusa 634-CF @canonusa 6DMK1 —- . . . . . #tracylee #tracyleephotos #tracyleephotography #slikusa #canonusa #tokinausa #canonbringit #teamcanon #teamtokina #teamslik #shootslik #longexposure_shots #nightimages #nightshooterz #nightpics #milkywaygalaxy #astrophotography #astrophoto #astro_photography_ #astro_photography #longexposure

#TBT to a dark cold night... #Repost I had an amazing trip back and forth all over Oregon last week with @smpetersonphotography @amymichelle4 @safatajphoto @drdarius7 and many more I met along the way! —- On Thursday I took off with @drdarius7 in search of MW Comps.. on Friday we hit waterfalls, hot springs, and then the incredible and amazing Crater Lake... we got there in time for exploring & sunset... we started at Disco Point and hiked along the rim looking for a spot that was far enough NW to be able to get this shot without having to hike all the way to the Watchman. We found this point about a mile and a half in and decided that it was our comp! —- We napped in the car for a bit until about 1030 and then hiked to our spot.. while we were setting up our cameras and getting focus, we couldn’t believe it but we heard voices approaching. They must have seen our lights because they turned away although we heard them nearby throughout the night. Turns out through social media, @pnw.zack figured out it was us out there that night, lol... —- I was having issues with focusing my camera and after opening it up and checking the sensor, I determined there was a residue on the mirror; I cleaned it off as best as I could, got my camera focused and then started shooting. @drdarius7 had already been shooting a while by this time.. I’m anal about my panos with tons of overlap so this 168 image stacked shot took a couple hours to shoot in the freezing cold.. this is a 2 row vertical pano; top row has 14 frames of 10 stacked images each and bottom row has 14 frames of 2 three minute exposures each.. I stacked all images in Starry Landscape Stacker and then amazingly enough, Lightroom EASILY put together the entire pano in about 2 minutes. I thought I I was going to have to blend top and bottom in PS.. - This image is cropped by Instagram and the entire image is actually a lot wider.. and looks way better lol... —— Sky 10 stacked images per frame ISO 10000 F2.8 10 seconds — Foreground 2 stacked images per frame ISO 2000 F2.8 180 seconds —- @tokinausa 16-28 @ 24 @slikusa 634-cf @canonusa 6DMK1 - #tracylee #tracyleephotos #tracyleephotography #slikusa

#TBT #ThrowbackThursday I need to get some more time in on my tracker; perhaps with ORION!! - Repost @tracyleephotos ・ Taken w/ my new Slik USA ECH-630 star tracker... --- I caught a flight back to LA from Portland on Sunday, grabbed my girl @XO_Anhie and took off to Mammoth Lakes, CA. Original plan was to backpack into the mountains to hit some glacial lakes with @StevenJMagner and his buddy @LAHikes, but since I was fighting off a cold from the night in Crater Lake, and the weather was looking really bad (Rain snow & 28 degree weather), Anh and I decided to detour to Lone Pine where it would be clear &much warmer instead. --- We hit 3 hot springs in Mammoth before we headed down, &then got side tracked by an arch I hadn't seen before in AH.. It was getting dark so we found a spot to camp & settled in for a nap. We didn't sleep very much because the wind decided to kick up like a banshee; we were worried to leave the tent when we left to shoot so we tied rocks to it &prayed for the best. -- We got to Mobius arch for my 1st night shoot there ever (after hitting the 1st arch for a bit) around 1 am & JUST missed the light of the moon on the foreground. Lucky for us, no one was there! I had some time before the sky darkened so I set up the tracker Slik had sent me to test out. I used the large peep hole to find Polaris, & then fine tuned using a laser ( thank you @drdarius7) through the small peep hole. It was actually pretty quick but this was my 3rd time trying. Foreground I lit using 2 Lumecube.com/160.html (use code TRACYLEE for free US Shipping) -- My fave part of the MW is so prominent now- #rhoophiuchi — SKY- single image ISO 800 F 2.8 180 seconds - Foreground 10 images stacked in SLS for NR ISO 1600 F2.8 30 seconds --- @TokinaUSA 16-28 @ 24 @SlikUSA 634-CF @CanonUSA 6DMK1 Processed in LR & PS —- #tracylee #tracyleephotos #tracyleephotography #slikusa #canonusa #tokinausa #canonbringit #teamcanon #teamtokina #teamslik #shootslik #slikusa #longexposure_shots #nightimages #nightpics #milkywaygalaxy #astrophotography #astrophoto #astro_photography_ #astro_photography #longexposure #lumecube #capture4cubes #litbylume #mobiusarch #alabamahills #lonepine

#TBT #ThrowbackThursday —- Repost @tracyleephotos ・・・ #TheGreatMilkyWayChase Day 8 continued... we left Marble CO with a 5 hr drive towards Green River UT... We planned on setting up there for a few days at an RV Park (We ended up @ICampgreenriver where the staff has been absolutely amazing!!) and taking day trips out from there.. We got in later than planned and decided to rest and edit images before heading out at 1am to catch a better alignment over Dead Horse Point's river bend. We got there around 2 am and had plenty of time to set up so I ran my tracker for a while and then did this stacked pano. I stacked 20 images for two part of sky, and then 4 longer exposed images for the foreground after the moon rose. I really wasn't sure how well this pano was going to merge, but with a little help, it went together awesome... The smoke on the horizon made for a yellow haze on an otherwise super dark sky.. ---- 40 horizontal sky images (20 &20) stacked in SLS for NR 4 foreground stacked ISO 10000 F2.8 180 seconds foreground 10 seconds sky ---- @CanonUSA 24-70 2.8 @ 24 @SlikUSA 634-CF @CanonUSA 6DMK1 Processed in LR ---- #tracylee #tracyleephotos #tracyleephotography #slikusa #canonusa #tokinausa #canonbringit #teamcanon #teamtokina #teamslik #shootslik #slikusa #longexposure_shots #nightimages #nightshooterz #nightpics #milkywaygalaxy #astrophotography #astrophoto #astro_photography_ #astro_photography #longexposure #deadhorsepoint

I stopped by here last weekend in the morning... I love coming here whether I shoot the Milky Way or not... —- Repost @tracyleephotos ・ Last weekend I hosted an impromptu end of season @MilkyWayChasers meet up at Trona Pinnacles with an awesome turnout; Thank you again everyone!! Since we were driving all the way to California for it, @SaolyBensonPhoto and I took off a day early so that we could hit some spots in the Eastern Sierras to shoot Milky Way and Fall color before heading down to meet with the group. I had been wanting to shoot at this location since last year after @Prevailz had mentioned it to me. --- As we were driving up the 395, the skies were super cloudy but my trusty weather website, noaa.gov promised that the skies would clear up in time. We didn't feel a sense of urgency to make it here by sunset because it was so overcast we thought for sure it was going to be a crappy sunset.. Boy, were we wrong!!! Not only was it one of the best sunsets ever, the skies cleared up JUST in time for me to get this shot of the alignment. --- What is crazy is that I thought i had messed up this shot and was going to have to composite a later Milky Way in, or just deal with a shot that didn't have the MW in alignment... Going back through my images, I had done a vertical pano at the exact perfect time. The sky, the upper part of the pano, was taken 15 minutes after the foreground was taken. --- I don't usually shoot night sky with my @canonusa 24-70 but I wanted a bigger MW so my foreground was taken at 35mm. I was kicking myself as I realized I would get trailing in my MW at the settings I wanted, so for the sky I switched to 27mm. I would have rather kept them the same focal length but I had already messed up and couldn't go back to get the incredible foreground color this one has. --- Sky 8 Images stacked in SLS for NR ISO 6400 F2.8 15 seconds @CanonUsa 24-70 @ 27mm @SlikUsa 634-CF @CanonUsa 6dmk1 Processed in LR & PS - Foreground 15 Images stacked in PS for NR ISO 6400 F2.8 3.2 seconds @CanonUsa 24-70 @ 35mm Processed in LR & PS --- #slikusa #canonusa #canonbringit #teamcanon #teamslik #shootslik #sliktripods #mycanonstory
