I have been sitting on…

I have been sitting on this image for a year and a half and finally got around to editing it. I feel like that year and a half was vital to the outcome of this image. I had taken off to the eastern sierras on a double trip; 1st was with @mattcookii and then followed by another with @danielbrittonphoto.. On the 2nd one, Daniel, Me, @prevailz and @MatthewSavillePhoto met up to head into the Ancient Bristlecone Forest.. We spent the afternoon in this photographers playground searching for comps and then started shooting in the evening as we waited for the moon to duck below the horizon. This was one of many comps I got that night at a lower ISO than I usually shoot nowadays.. I lit the foreground with a @luxproflashlights.. ---- ISO 2500 F 2.8 25 seconds @TokinaUSA 11-20 2.8 @SlikUSA 634-CFL @CanonUSA 70d Processed in LR 8 Images stacked in SLS for NR ----- #tracylee #tracyleephotos #tracyleephotography #slikusa #canonusa #tokinausa #canonbringit #teamcanon #teamtokina #teamslik #shootslik #sliktripods #easternsierras #californialiving #californialove #longexposure_shots #nightshooterz #nightshooters #longexposure #longexpohunter #longexpo #amazing_longexpo #amazingearth #natgeo #itsamazingoutthere #nightphotography

#FBF – Repost – I…

#FBF - Repost - I had always admired Milky Way/Lighthouse images I had seen online so this past weekend when we came across the beautiful Point Cabrillo Lighthouse, I knew I had to shoot it.. We had a few obstacles to overcome so @mattcookii &I headed there Saturday afternoon after a stop at Glass Beach to check it out.We lucked out; they allow tours of the tower of the light house 8 times a year &that afternoon happened to be one of them. In taking the tour we learned that every lighthouse has a unique signature, or light pattern that allows them to be recognizable at sea; this lighthouse's signature info would come in handy later. We took some photos, explored around andthen went to set up camp at Russian Gulch nearby. - We came back to the lighthouse at sunset;we made sure to park along the street ¬ within the parking lot because the area closed at sunset. We knew the MW would be up soon after sunset so we figured we would try &stick around until we got kicked out. I wandered down on the rocks about 1/4 mile away from the lighthouse &shot until after the sun went down then waited a little bit longer for dusk to start settling in before heading to the spot I wanted to shoot the lighthouse from. - It was then I learned that this was going to be harder than originally thought. The lighthouse signature was 10 seconds. My normal MW shot at 2500 ISO is 25-30 seconds. Every time the light came around &hit my lens, it completely blew out the photo. I had to quickly adapt to shoot at 10,000 ISO &time my shots perfectly to be 4 seconds on, 6 seconds off. I shot my foreground .6 seconds at 6400 iso, f2.8 across the board. I tried shooting closer to the lighthouse after I took these shots but there was no hope even w/ that timing- shots were blown out. - I took off to the car using the 10 second sweep to light my way. Like in a horror movie, I kept seeing a figure in the grass to my right and had to wait each 10 seconds to try &catch a glimpse of it. It was a deer standing vigilantly in the grasses not moving. Creepy! _ ISO 10000 F2.8 4seconds 9 images stacked for sky, 4 for foreground for NR in SLS Processed in LR & PS @tokinausa 11-20 @slikusa 634-CFL @canonusa 70d

So things seem like they’re calming down a bit on the Vero app and things are starting to work including the search feature... I would love to see you over there; you can post odd aspect ratios on there no problem! —- PLEASE STOP linking me to articles about the owner; true to media fashion they don’t tell the full story like the fact that @a_hariri wasn’t a part of the company at that time and the other part was the government owed them 8billion dollars so that’s why the government stepped in to help those people when they weren’t getting paid.. if you’re going to post a link, please research it fully.. @colbybrownphotography Posted a lot of good info on his FB page if you want to read it... —— I don’t have a full opinion about it yet, but if you’re over there, please feel free to follow me... look forward to saying hello; if you’re using it, what are your thoughts so far?? —— PS I have multiple accounts there, just like here so look for the same avatar! ___ #tracylee #tracyleephotos #tracyleephotography #slikusa #canonusa #tokinausa #canonbringit #teamcanon #teamtokina #teamslik #shootslik #sliktripods #mycanonstory #longexposure_shots #nightimages #nightshooterz #nightshooters #nightpics #milkywaygalaxy #astrophotography #astrophoto #astro_photography_ #astro_photography #longexposure #longexpohunter

#ThrowbackThursday #TBT This is the…

#ThrowbackThursday #TBT This is the most frustrating part of Milky Way season for me. Even more frustrating then it not being Milky Way season. This is the part of the year that there is either a big large moon like the one I’m looking at right now or it’s perfectly dark outside but there’s tons of clouds. I just wanna shoot!! So here’s a happy photo from last September when I made a lot of new friends! —— Repost @tracyleephotos ・・・ I just realized I never posted this image that I edited.. This was from the week I was down in LA for work and hit the beach with @theKevinGreene and a bunch of others and ran into @StevenJMagner & @Cecphotos there. I spent 2 more nights on the beaches of Cali chasing #BioLuminescence and was thrilled with the outcome of all the shots. Believe it or not, I still have more that I haven't edited yet!! I was scoping out that week for places to hold the @TokinaUSA/ @slikUSA / @HoyaFilterUSA meet up. This night on the beach was like a IG meet up unplanned though.. I met tons I had only seen on Instagram prior to that night... I headed out to Valley of Fire at 3am this morning with @charles___king & @djmikeyswift to shoot the stars.. it’s #WPPI week here in Vegas and there’s tons of events going on for it but I needed to get out to shoot for the last time this month... #FLASHBACKFRIDAY To one of my…

#FLASHBACKFRIDAY To one of my fave images from end of last season! —- Last weekend I hosted an impromptu end of season @MilkyWayChasers meet up at Trona Pinnacles with an awesome turnout; Thank you again everyone!! Since we were driving all the way to California for it, @SaolyBensonPhoto and I took off a day early so that we could hit some spots in the Eastern Sierras to shoot Milky Way and Fall color before heading down to meet with the group. I had been wanting to shoot at this location since last year after @Prevailz had mentioned it to me. I had even been here a few months back with @TommyMacPhoto but we had a schedule of other spots to be at and didn't have time to come back to shoot at night.. --- As we were driving up the 395, the skies were super cloudy but my trusty weather website, noaa.gov promised that the skies would clear up in time. We didn't feel a sense of urgency to make it here by sunset because it was so overcast we thought for sure it was going to be a crappy sunset.. Boy, were we wrong!!! Not only was it one of the best sunsets ever, the skies cleared up JUST in time for me to get this shot of the alignment. --- What is crazy is that I thought i had messed up this shot and was going to have to composite a later Milky Way in, or just deal with a shot that didn't have the MW in alignment... Going back through my images, I had done a vertical pano at the exact perfect time. The sky, the upper part of the pano, was taken 15 minutes after the foreground was taken. --- I don't usually shoot night sky with my @canonusa 24-70 but I wanted a bigger MW so my foreground was taken at 35mm. I was kicking myself as I realized I would get trailing in my MW at the settings I wanted, so for the sky I switched to 27mm. I would have rather kept them the same focal length but I had already messed up and couldn't go back to get the incredible foreground color this one has. --- Sky 8 Images stacked in SLS for NR ISO 6400 F2.8 15 seconds @CanonUsa 24-70 @ 27mm @SlikUsa 634-CF @CanonUsa 6dmk1 Processed in LR & PS - Foreground 15 Images stacked in PS for NR ISO 6400 F2.8 3.2 seconds @CanonUsa 24-70 @ 35mm Processed in LR & PS ---

I’ve been trying to get…

I've been trying to get out to shoot almost every night since Sunday and always something came up; even when I was just in the Eastern Sierras the last couple days. So I made a huge effort to go out somewhat locally to Vegas with an image of making this arch into a Milky Way window last night. I checked the maps and knew that it was borderline possible so I headed out with my buddy @DJMikeySwift at 3am, arriving around 4am to set up.. Why so late you might ask? I figured if I got there any earlier, I would be waiting in the freezing cold for the GC to show her pretty little face.. Our timing couldn't have been more perfect though and I figured out my composition, set up my tripod, and a single lumecube.com/160.html (use TRACYLEE for free US Shipping) bounced off a rock off to the side and started shooting... Mikey also shot the milky way this evening using his LG phone and a tripod. I can't wait to see how his turn out because they looked good from what I saw!! ---- This is 15 images stacked in Starry Landscape Stacker for Noise Reduction ISO 6400 F2.8 13 seconds @TokinaUSA 16-28mm @ 16 @SlikUSA 634-CF @CanonUSA 6dMK1 Processed in LR & PS ---- #tracylee #tracyleephotos #tracyleephotography #slikusa #canonusa #tokinausa #canonbringit #teamcanon #teamtokina #teamslik #shootslik #sliktripods #mycanonstory #longexposure_shots #nightimages #nightshooterz #nightshooters #nightpics #milkywaygalaxy #astrophotography #astrophoto #astro_photography_ #astro_photography #LumeOneUp #capture4cubes #litbylume #nevada

#FBF I didn’t get to…

#FBF I didn’t get to shoot last night, hope I get to tonight with the skies so clear!! Here’s a shot from last June for #flashbackfriday! —— Since most of June was spent on a shooting range, instead of shooting photos, this session I have been a little desperate to get some good shots... On my way home from LA Wednesday afternoon, I decided to find a good spot to shoot the Milky Way and wait out her appearance a few hours.. I drove around on dirt roads just last Barstow and then decided I would like to be closer to Vegas so I kept going more towards Baker.. I had this house pinned on my maps for over a year now but had never gotten close enough to explore it.. Well that day was the day and with my gun close at hand, I spent the sunset exploring the house and the surrounding ones as well.. The house has a dark basement below it which was part of the reason for my carrying my weapon. That and being a female in the middle of the desert alone... --- I shot a couple different compositions before calling it a night at 11:00pm.. I used 2 Lumecube.com/160.html (use code TRACYLEE at that URL for free US shipping); one to light inside and 1 to light outside.. I ALWAYS try to bounce the light if I can and I did that with both lights in this instance.. pretty stoked with how this one came out! --- ISO 6400 F2.8 10seconds 10 images stacked in SLS for NR @tokinausa 11-20 2.8 @slikusa 634-CFL @canonusa 70d --- #tracylee #tracyleephotos #tracyleephotography #slikusa #canonusa #tokinausa #canonbringit #teamcanon #teamtokina #teamslik #shootslik #sliktripods #mycanonstory #longexposure_shots #nightimages #nightshooterz #nightshooters #nightpics #milkywaygalaxy #astrophotography #astrophoto #astro_photography_ #astro_photography #LumeOneUp #california #capture4cubes #litbylume

Last summer headed out to…

Last summer headed out to the Lake Powell area on our way to Reflection Canyon from the lake side.... I made sure to milk the trip for everything I could (get it???) and dragged my group off on some tangents off the beaten path... This was from the 1st night of the trip. This was taken on my 70d which is crazy to me because it seems to have as much detail as an image off my 6dmk1.. I'm not sure if that means I was getting better at shooting, or editing but I'm pretty stoked to get that much response out of a crop sensor and feel like others with crop sensors shouldn't be discouraged!! ---- As usual, it's season again and i'm desperate to shoot. As with last season, clouds keep slowing me down. I'm up now and wish I was heading out to shoot, but snowboarding is taking me to mammoth. I'm hoping that means I can get some time in about 24 hours to pray for clear skies and convince my friend to drive me somewhere at 3am.. Cross your fingers for me!!! ---- This is 10 images stacked in Starry Landscape Stacker for Noise Reduction. I lit this from the left and right using 2 lumecube.com/160.html..
